Just a Quick Update...
Hey, no major blog contribution, just random news. Been working on a hellish case in New York and have been petitioning for Catholic Dioceian (sp?) intervention for another in PA. These two cases, though miles apart, had a distracting connection that proves how cunning paranormal agents can be.
It's hard to accept the fact that you can't be there for all of your clients at all times. It's something that I've struggled to understand for a year or two, but now that I'm juggling literally DOZENS of cases a MONTH, it's hard to get back to them all. In a perfect world, they'd only need a weekend or a couple days of assistance and their problems would be solved. Sadly, this isn't so. But at least they have my phone number to call me whenever they need it!
I fly to Las Vegas in a week for a case! I've never been there and so I'm excited, but not just because of the flight. I often dreamed of the day when I'd be flying somewhere with my team to investigate a case. It sounds silly, I know... I've always wanted to be able to say "there's a really good case out in ____ state, so let's fly out." We chose this case because it's also important. It's not just because it's in Las Vegas. We had the option of going to other states (one in my home state), but the cases weren't as compelling and urgent as this one in Vegas.
I'm going to miss my crew. Holy cow, have I bonded with them. They respect what we do and they give us the room to do it. If there was ever something I was uncomfortable with, they adapted and changed it. When the death of a loved one hit PRS, they cancelled shooting even though it would be slightly costly to production. Whenever I had an idea, they embraced it. Whenever we reached out to help a client, they also did the same. Once the camera and sound guys (Ben, Brian and Shaw) put down their equipment to give a client a hug in the middle of an intervention-like moment. It was the only time I was about to cry (as of present, that is) on a case. But it's not time to reflect just yet. We still have a few more episodes to finish.
I also think I should give a shout out to our counselor/therapist Jamie. If you're a paranormal investigator, I highly recommend getting a therapist on board. This gal has done an amazing job and has been able to connect with clients in ways that we sometimes can't. And obviously she does a lot of it off camera to respect clients' privacy.
We wrap filming in early March, so I'm wondering what the heck I'm going to do with myself. Obviously I have a lot of cases to follow up on. I'm also going to use that time to put a dent in to the writing that I'm supposed to be doing.
I received a couple dozen emails about UNIV-CON already. I'm so thrilled that so many people have embraced this conference and are completely excited about VI even though it's 7-8 months away. We've been working on it, trust me. We are moving away a bit from the entertainment stuff and putting some more serious meat in there. Don't worry, there'll still be entertainment. It's our signature, I think. But we want to be tasteful about it. UNIV-CON may be "run by a bunch of kids" as one cranky 50-year-old lady once put it, but damn straight, it's better than what she could have put on. And what drives me to keep improving the conference is when I see people posting pictures and blogs and articles about their UNIV-CON experiences. I see it more for UNIV-CON than any other conference. And there were even some negative reviews, which I enjoyed. The nasty ones were entertaining and the respectful ones were thought provoking. Obviously it doesn't help anyone when insults are thrown. I'm human and therefore I speak from previous experience.
Does anyone else ask what kind of drugs Patrick Burns is on? TWO conferences a YEAR? Holy cow, man. That guy has some spunk! One conference a year puts me on my death bed. Go Patrick! Whatever he's on, I want some! I have never been to Ghostock but I still need to fulfill my promise and speak at one in the near future.
Well, this has been a long rant. I'm going to pack up for this weekend's case. It's a haunted object case. Can't wait to check it out.

Aw, thanks Ryan. As I've expressed to you many times I have had a blast working with PRS, so thanks for the opportunity.

Hey Ryan,
I think it's amazing how each of us have our own life's work to accomplish and how when in the right path, our lives unfold for all the work we have put into it leading us down that path. You're doing something that I've always been very drawn to and I admire you for that, and love reading about your cases and life.
This life, however, my work is with animals and running a horse rescue (that also sometimes seems to entail rescuing/helping people) and I love what I do, and thank you for sharing what you do.
I think you do a great job and will definitely keep reading.
All the best,
CJ

After a long Sunday morning I unwittingly turned on your show. I am drawn to promise you my prayers. Aside from my being a Priest, I can relate to your unique college experience. Blessings, Fr.
Author's Response: Hello Father. I am blessed that you have reached out to me. You know, I was on the phone with Lorraine Warren when I read your post. We were actually wondering if any priests had seen the show and we wanted to know their thoughts. Then I got online and saw your post. It made our day. Thank you for the prayers. I took down your email address in case you didn't want it published.

Ryan,
You have the NUMBER ONE PROTECTOR with you always !
God will never let any harm come to his children; especially when you & your team are helping to let the LIGHT of the HOLY spirit enter dark corners.
I feel God will continue to use you for that purpose, as well as giving the positive message of faith to those who perhaps never received it.
Please take care of your health...monitor those things that need looking after & God will do the rest !
You're a wonderful leader-Stay strong !
Author's Response: Janine, thank for you the kind words and prayers. I agree, God's light is as powerful as it gets. I pray for protection every night, but it doesn't hurt to have support. Thank you and to everyone else for the support ya'll have shown me. God Bless and Happy Holidays.

Hi Ryan - I wanted to tell you that we enjoy your show. More important, though, we learn. I'm impressed by your treatment of your clients, just as I'm impressed by all of you .. your skills, your senses, your ever-growing knowledge in the field.
We - my kids and I - try not to miss an episode, and we talk about it even days later. Thank you for doing this. Your strength is your gift, and you're in our prayers.
Thank you.
P.S. I'm a firm believer in spirits and ghosts, having had first-hand experiences with both.

Ryan-
When I saw A&E's ads for the premier of your show I was hooked. Then when I saw your first episode I was totally hooked. I love the work you do and how you help families overcome whatever may be lingering both paranormally and mentally. Keep up the good work and God Bless.

Hi Ryan, When I first heard about this new show coming to AETV I was extremely excited. I wish your episodes could be an hour in length because I don't think you can do justice in a half hour format. I know, it's not up to you, it's up to the people in charge. Keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing many, many more episodes.

I have heard so many compare Ryan and PRS(s) work to TAPS. There is no comparison. PRS knows going into the investigation that the likelihood of demonic energies are present. They have more of an idea of how to deal with these entities and they know the entities are real....there is no need for proof.
Most of their clients have unknowingly tapped into a world of darkness without understanding....it's a scary place to be if even if you do understand it. The chances are more often than not, it's not their imagination, not anyone in their family being mischievous but an unrealized invitation to a world they know nothing about. i.e. don't every play with an Ouija Board or Tarot without understanding where they derived and their purpose. The ole saying sometimes, "Ignorance is Bliss" certainly applies here.

Hey Brother Michael,
I agree totally. I have only seen TAPS provide a "service" for their "clients" once. If anything, it's good entertainment and shows many on what not to do during an investigation. Like provoking, being disrespectful (to the dead), and laying on the "clients" furniture.

Hey Ryan,
I would like to comment on all of your blogs but my hands are full as well. I loved the commentary you gave on psychics. Interestingly, ever since Ghost Hunters became popular, it seems like everyone is a sensitive or a psychic of sorts. They even come up with names for their prowess. Such as "Psychic Profiler" etc. I too have a reputation for pushing the envelope with psychics. A test at every turn and let's see what the evidence says. My brother is a spiritualist and he always tells me that if a psychic asks for money, it's quite possible they are NOT. Either way it's important for me to address the Christian issues that some put forward to you about dealings with psychics and the paranormal in general. God, Jesus and The Holy Spirit are all spirits as well as the saints to which some of us pray. If one believes in God, then one believes in spirits. Prophets gave premonitions to future events. While God Given, still paranormal. Demons, satan are spirits. Finally, the Bible does say we have a spirit within us that will be judged one day by God and our earthly bodies returned to the dust. Christians (and I am one) must remember who the real Judge is. God. the people and our world is not ours to be judged and not everything can be explained away. I think PRS provides a great service and follow ups can be tough. We are there with you guys. In prayer and spirit. Enjoy your time off. I look forward to the second season. I encourage my group to watch your show because what I teach them, seems to come together on Paranormal State...Have a Great Summer!

I could not decide weather or not to say anything, but I'm just going to say it anyway as silly as it might sound. It just could be coinsidental what happen to me after I sent the blog asking about that demon following you in a couple episodes.I felt like a surge of heat go up my back to my head and face and down to my stomach.I said a little pray and went outside to cool down.It just kind of freaked me out.Maybe it was just a hot flash?I'm not going to worry about it.Later I thought it was interesting that it happened when it did.
