This is Paranormal State

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Thank you for coming on to our website and visiting my blog.  Here, you will find postings based off of our research, the television show as well as additional commentary on the paranormal as a whole.

I want to devote this blog to PARANORMAL STATE.  Over a thousand people have reached out to me (and the numbers constantly grow each day).  There's a lot of praise, a lot of questions and some criticism.  While watching PARANORMAL STATE and judging the show and/or our society, please consider the following:

This show isn't about the evidence!!!
Geez, people, can we make this any more clear?  We're not "Ghost Hunters."  Why would you want a carbon-copy of another show?  This show is about the people who are experiencing paranormal phenomenon and they have nowhere else to go.  Almost all of them have involved some assortment of counselors, psychiatrists, doctors, neurologists, etc.  They didn't find any answers.  They brought us in as a last resort.  We DO CONDUCT research on the case, but the show focuses on the human and story element.  So if you want to take something out of this show, stop waiting for "the reveal" and think about how you would handle these clients and how would you have helped them cope with their experiences?

This show is not about the demonic!
A&E decided to air what they thought were compelling and creepy episodes first.  The events that happened on THE NAME and DEVIL IN SYRACUSE are indeed real.  However, there are other investigations that we've conducted, including: a haunted bar, haunted objects, a teenage girl seeing a murdered victim, the Mothman, a location with possible ritualistic-abuse on animals, etc.  This show is very diverse and we cover many elements.  By doing so, I think that people will see more elements about what we do.

This show has a religious/spiritual element to it.  Get used to it.
Some of the criticisms have been on us using religion and spirituality, proclaiming that we've gone back to the Dark Ages.  Okay, let's play fair for a minute.  IF we were truly dealing with the demonic, what the hell is a scientist or a thermal camera going to do to help the family?

We try to conduct as best of an investigation as we can.  But if a client wants the spirit to leave the premise, or if they feel they are being harmed by something, what can scientific evidence do at this point to stop it?  We do our best to rule out mental illness, lying and other physiological factors (like hallucinations) before filming the investigation.  We've also made more of an effort to show some of this in future episodes.

However, there comes a time when we've gone as far as we can with investigative tools.  We then turn to the client's spiritual beliefs to try and bring a positive atmosphere back in to their lives.  There is nothing wrong with a positive, spiritual belief system.

I'm so baffled at PARANORMAL INVESTIGATORS being OFFENDED by the use of religion.  If we believe in spirits, don't we believe in a God?

That being said, when it comes to the case, people need to focus on the clients' needs, not the needs of your organization!  That's at least what we do.  Help people first.

You Will See More Investigation and Different Techniques.
Yes, it's true.  And not all of them involve Holy Water or psychics!

Hey guys, big revelation: THIS IS A TV SHOW!!
I do not own A&E Network nor am I the executive producer.  But I trust my producers and they have ultimately honored our journeys into the paranormal and the stories of the clients.  Are things sometimes over-produced?  Over-edited?  It's a freakin' TV show guys.  Trust me, I'd LOVE to have a five-hour documentary on one of our investigations.  But at this stage, we haven't had that opportunity.

So please be mindful that you're watching a television show.  Try to sort through the creepy music and the edits and you might find some interesting materials.  Like with Matthew from SIXTH SENSE... what if there really are kids out there who can speak to the dead?  How would your organization deal with a child claiming to see dead people?  These are the thought-provoking questions that I think we should look at, not "A&E got the Kreiger Family Murders facts wrong!!!! FAKE!!!"

Just for the record, if you listen to Director's Logs or go to Paranormal Insider to read my post-mortems, you would know that PRS put the information out there that the murders did NOT happen in Pa.

Please visit Paranormal Insider for my Post-Mortems!
I post a lot of commentary about the investigation, and additional information that was left out of the show.  For a lot of people who feel that there is a lot left out, you aren't the only one.  This is why I have created these "post mortems."  And they are just part of what we're doing to make the experience more thought-provoking.

www.paranormalinsider.com
Post Mortems are posted every Tuesday after a new episode.

Here is a link to the SIXTH SENSE post-mortem and for THE NAME.

Evidence & Case Studies.
Even though this show is NOT about the evidence, we will be posting some collected data for peer review, as well as case reports from specialists who went on the case.  Investigators such as myself will also include additional information.

We ENCOURAGE debate/constructive criticism.
It's true.  Please visit our message boards: forums.pennstateprs.com to discuss various aspects of the paranormal.  Likewise, you may also email me at ryanb@pennstateprs.com .  I will try to answer emails as soon as possible, but keep in mind it may take up to a week or two.

Many thanks for all of you who watched the show.  2.5 million viewers is quite a lot of people!

I very much enjoyed the first two episodes of the show. I find it very refreshing to see young people praying and helping others. I was pleasantly surprised to see a show where faith wasn't portrayed as a bad thing or something to laugh at. I believe demons are very real and it is great that people who are haunted by them can turn to PRS for help. It is obvious that your desire to help others is real and that's what made the show so compelling. The subject matter of the show is fascinating and it was also quite entertaining. Also, the post mortems are great and very informative. Maybe in the future the show can go to an hour and you can include the "post mortems". It would also be nice to see some follow up episodes. I look forward to new episodes. Keep up the good work!

I find the hodge podge of pagan and Christian faiths rather spliced together in an incongruent manner.

I have reason to believe that this will serve to exasperate matters while giving the temporary symptom of a cure.

The band-aid will eventually fall off.

      What I like:
      1. The show seems to take a serious approach to the subject matter.
      2. The show seems to recognize that the source of much of the so-called Paranormal phenomenon are the psyches of the subjects involved.
      3. The show seems to take into consideration (without formally acknowledging the fact) that the source of much of the supposed phenomenon is the breach in the fabric of the spiritual/psychical field.

There is a Lodge which perfected the summoning of such entities through the use of the Sacred teachings.

There is a spiritual lineage or heritage which has developed into a system from which such spirits have been previously bound and held.

They seem to spring forth now, having been freed through forgetfulness (or negligence) of the system which bound them.

The "tradition" of The Roman Catholic Church was the superstructure upon which the Magi of Western Tradition summoned and bound these 'spirits'.

The rituals which are used are inherited from those which still exist in the sister church of The Coptic Orthodox Church.

We first are entered into The Body of believers, then submit to the will of the almighty, then enter into communion with the heavenly host of angels, then bind the spirits of hades.

I take it you are speaking of the old style grimoire tradition (Honorius, Legematon, Goetia, etc.) from which the Golden Dawn and others later took and changed? Joseph Lisiewksi and others have taken up that older system based on the renegade monks and popes who did such things. But it was always a heretical approach used by loose cannons (although most were priests, bishops, and even a Pope or two) and not sanctioned and also pronounced anathema by the Ante-Nicene Church Fathers. The premise of magic is based on the promotion of the will of the practitioner. The rule of Christianity is to subsume one's own will to that of God. It is only sophistry that some write that through thaumaturgy one unites one's will to God's and therefore the demons are subject to one's will. Jesus gave the example, when He was suffering in the Garden of Gethsamane: "Saying: Father, if thou wilt, remove this chalice from me: but yet not my will, but thine be done" (Luke 22:42). This stands in opposition to the assertions of thaumaturgy.

I saw with the little boy. I am a special need teacher. Children do see them very clear the spirits that walk around I work with young kids.
They tell me all kinds of interesting things.
In day teacher and by night and weekends holiday's a reiki master healer paranormal investigator have done this work for years. As my mother had done this work way before it was popular. in the 60's She and I are mediums. Its not something you want to be it happens and you really can't turn it off. I tried when I was young. When I was little she worked with police solving case's for them. And people would come to her to help now they come to me. I do my best getting a ghost spirit out of a house. I am 45 now she is 88 My daughter is young 20 she has the gift but does not yet use it to its fullest.
I have seen amazing miracles and scary things trying to help clear homes and buildings from spirits and dark forces voices on a recorder, knocking sounds answering my questions. doors bang, spirts play with my hair, things move the list goes on. We can all learn form each other young and old it is a calling do this work. I am glad you use spiritual beliefs to help move spirits into the light. Great work keep helping your team the team is wonderful. I look forward to seeing more of the shows. I keep having to work when they are on. I watched the little kid one on line. Your team is really good there is a nice energy with them all. There is a large group out here on this planet of people that want and need the teaching you are offering. Helping the best way we can using our gifts and the ones that have the gifts not the crazy ones that miss use and rip people off and hurting people and tricking them into junk that does not work at all. And takes advantage of there misfortion for the place being haunted. Which causes more trouble in the building or home for the owners. The healer mediums and investigators the good ones. You know what I mean. Teaching the investigators to look at the case as a cop doing an investigation is exactly right on. Each person has gifts that they are good at doing there job during the investigation. Hopefully solving the case. God bless and may all of your team stay in the light always.
      Love Ascension

I saw your first episode of Paranormal State DEC.10. I was really amazed to see the house blessing you did on the house. I had never seen anyone do it that way before. I actually thought my father was the only person who would anoint the walls and windows with a cross. I too, was taunted by the supernatural realm, when I was younger and even now more so. I would really like to discuss further about my experiences. And would appreciate it if you could e-mail me sometime... Keep doing what your doing, it isn't a curse the gift you have, the Lord saw something in you and has pre-destinated your life to helping people in these types of situations. YOU are in my prayers....

Genius. I'm glad that you focus on the human element. People seem to forget that these experiences can, and do, alter the way a person sees life. While my own experiences have yet to be harmful, they are monumental all the same. It's nice to have people looking out for the "little guy". I believe you mentioned an experience from your past? Hopefully you will share those experiences with us, your audience, over the course of the show. I know that the show was not created to tell your own personal stories, but I am interested to know your history. So I wanted end by letting you know that you've done brilliantly, Mr. Buell. Bravo!

I just wanted to leave a word of encouragement for you. I very much enjoyed the show and found it to be enlightening. I myself, while I wouldn't say that I've ever "seen dead people" have always been what I would describe as, "spiritually sensitive", so shows of this nature really strike a chord with me. I thought the show was well executed. It left me wanting more!

First hand the brown is hard to read through? Second, My daughter who is 12 had been part of some weird experiences and it all first started when she was 4 years old.But lately she claims to hear weird things during the middle of the night. I don't hear things but I had seen this small figure coming and going out of my apartment in Temecula, Ca. When we lived there. It was in a black hooded cape. No face but it seemed to come in and out of her closet. I knew I would close it but it would open on it's own. They claim if you think you see it you did. So I was just wondering what is the facts about this case. Or if you could shed light onto it. But this show is good. And I love to watch this show and Ghost hunters. I am aware they are 2 different types of shows. But they intrigue me. I have witnessed my own death. In a dream I believe. I have been able to focus on a situation and see people who I wanted to see, like for instance where are they and what they are doing at that moment.
I had seen the area's and the people but no faces. Do you know anything regarding this matter.
Or am I just weird. The show needs to be more real in the facts. Not just for the show to have ratings. I would love to know the real stuff.
    Thank You, for your time.

    Sincerely,

    Michelle

to be honest i have only watched one show, with that said i feel that your alternative way of giving the understanding of these happenings that some of us have or will experience, is quit compelling. The one episode i watched was the family of 6 with the single mother Jodi. i have a man in my house that had passed of a massive heart attack. He often lets me know that he is here with me. I am by no means telling i have any type of "gift" what so ever. I am not crazy! My oldest son(17) son WILL NOT sleep in his bedroom anymore. With no explanation, he instantly stopped sleeping in there. We never told him that is where the gentleman had passed, nor did we ever tell all four of our children(5,9,14,17) that anyone had passed in our house. I have seen him in full color walking down my hallway. it is hard to explain how it was.. kind of like in my head, but not a visual. I swear i am not kidding. the weird part is i wasn't scared. My children started hearing a ll child laughing in there bedroom. not long after they everything started to happen. Water all faucets turn on full, scents to the point i took all scented anything out of house. voices, touching, poking, i have seen a black and a white cat in our bedroom, things disappearing and reappearing. the most startling event is when my husband an i say a ll boy in our kitchen, we thought i was our 10, year old son at the time, but when we turned the light on he wasn't there. That was it I have been trying to find people to talk to and help me understand, not "hunt", but just understand. Again we are not crazy, we are an average family, that just needs to understand all of this..Hoping you understand..Jessica

As one person to another who experience such things, I want to let you know how happy I am as a Christian to see you guys work to do the Lord's work. I have a deep paranormal family history, but I have the gift stronger then all those before me. I have always wanted to be the warriors that you guys have become. I live in Brockport, Ny...if you ever find yourself up this way-PLEASE look me up. I have been looking for direction for a long time. I saw your show for the first time today (12/16/07)and it is like God is finally showing me what he wants me to do with my life. I am a senior of SUNY Brockport, and an Anthropology major. I don't want to lose my gift, but I have felt that it has wanned in the past few years. I have delt with demons, good and bad spirits. I have had an ex boyfriend possessed who tried to kill his best friend. My faith is strong now, but Satan has always tried to stop me from doing the Lord's work. I know you are still searching for answers, and I know you will find them. God is on your side! I can't help but feel that I was meant to see your show. I hope that Our paths will cross. If you ever decide to spread the team into other states, I feel that my skills as an anthropologist and my paranormal experience may be of help. I am also an Empath. I know you probably get this all the time, and may never have the time to respond. But think on it. As one haunted person to another, I know how it feels to have the spirits, both good and bad, follow you...
I agree with the others, DO NOT let people get you down. I just have one piece of advice, keep looking to God for new ways to deal with these spirits. Satan isn't happy with you, and all while I watched the show the temperature in my room dropped 10 degrees and I shook the whole time. Your gonna start facing stronger, and more damaging spirits. It's safe to safe that during these end times the movie Constantine may not be too far off- at least in my experience. I know your not looking for trouble, but it is looking for you. Keep your heads up, and your eyes to the Lord. Never give up, no matter what. Like I said, if your up this way and need/want help, look me up. If you email me I can give you my contact information, and my history. I was in a group sort if like yours my freshman year, though not nearly as high tech. You all will be in my prayers. God Bless and Good Luck in the future!

At first I was a bit weary about watching the show because to tell you the truth- the paranormal frightens me. Suddenly I found myself in the right place at the right time and I was not only watching the show but drawn to it as well. The first episode about the boy who saw dead people was extremely compelling. You seemed really empathetic in relating to the child and he seemed to be at ease knowing you had a similar experience. Is that true or did I misunderstand something?! I had strange experiences when I was 10 years old (grade 5). It involved summoning spirits through various "modes". Anyways, it pretty much left me extremely frightened of anything 'ungodly' and all things paranormal. I can not wait to watch further episodes, and especially watching you!!

Hello Ryan, I have a question for you; dealing with paranormal activities.

Is it possible for a spirit to follow a family or follow a loved one, even if it weren't the place of death, or is it possible for them to travel basically where they please?

Author's Response:  In theory, there aren't any laws that we know of that bind spirits to a location.  In fact, there are many stories and cases of spirits following a person.  PRS has investigated cases like this, so we don't discount them.  Keep in mind that no one knows the answer for sure, but if we believe in the spiritual realm, then I'd say it's safe to assume that spirits can roam in some fashion.

I also know this name well and it has haunted me since childhood. Many times in the past I have faced this demon, which I shall not name here for your sake. I first met him in Stalingrad at the age of eight. We next met in the port of Cotonou where he bested me and took my eye. Again we squared off on the banks of the Euphrates and from there I followed him down the endless steps to his eternal domain. It was here I gained the upper hand, and as he rested upon his molten, grandiose throne I slew him. There he stays, fractured, until he regains his impregnable spirit, or faces judgement day. And so to you I leave the final task, to finish what was started 60 years ago.

It is sort of like automatic writing where the writer is "led" by a spirit. I have done several para-paintings and mostly they are abstract or don't make to sense to me, but I always get the feeling of relief after I am finished - as if it was something that needed to be done. Have you ever heard of this sort of thing before?! I can't find anyone else who has this inclination.

I just wanted to say that I have enjoyed the show so far. The Name episode was especially informative for me as I have been haunted and followed by the demonic realm since I was a very young child. I know the name of the demon that follows me, and I have told very close friends about this demon. Unfortunately one of my close friends likes to bring the topic up a lot, and the demon's name has been spoken many times. Any time that his name is spoken, the visitations and problems increase a million fold. After seeing The Name episode, I will ensure that his name is never spoken again. I know it won't make him go away, but I think it is a good step in the right direction. I look forward to seeing more episodes. Too bad I am Canadian or I would have you come and see my haunted basement. There is a child spirit living in my home who is afraid of the dark, and goes around turning on the lights. Author's Response:  Erin, thanks for the kind words and support.  You know, I haven't really seen much criticism anyway, but the support has been tremendous.  Letters have poured in from teachers, professors, priests, students and paranormal investigators who support what we're doing.  Those are the people I focus on.  Take care and Happy Holidays.

Thank you for explaining more about the show. Most people fall short in there understanding of what you and your team do. It's not all about books flying across rooms, cold spots and orbs. It's also about the human element, the spiritual draw for these energies - weeding out the fact from fiction - ans as you mentioned - it's about the families and their experiences. Thanks Ryan.

Negative and positive spirits might not respond to just one religious path. Also, please consider the Trickster phenomenon. It's been noted in one form or another in just about every culture, down through the ages. In another words bad and good could very well be coming from one source. This, of course, is disturbing to anyone that follows a monotheistic path(Judaism/Christianity/Islam).

And, I couldn't help but be struck by your description of the "demon" who you saw when you were a child. His putting something with an instrument in your body is nearly identical to what many ufo abductees/experiencers have claimed.

I think the paranormal is indeed far-reaching more so that any of us know. We try to put happenings in tidy boxes -"demons","ghosts","cryptids","aliens/ufos"....but perhaps they are all linked.

Author's Response:  Hi Susan, thanks for the kind words.  Just for the record, the "monster" I saw as a kid as part of my experiences never put anything in to me as you described.  Happy Holidays.

Oh gee! Thankyou for the correction Ryan! I'm sorry. Apparenty, I'd gotten your childhood account confused with another paranormalist's childhood account that I'd recently read.

Anyhow, keep up the fine work!

Author's Response:  It's okay, Susan.  I've actually heard worse.  Someone even told me that there's a rumor going around (already?!?) that I was once possessed or something.  That one gave me a chuckle.

You are definitely onto something when you mention the Trickster and these things. George Hansen is a respected parapsychologist who has written a book you would get a lot out of, called "The Trickster and the Paranormal." Google it, as there is also a nice website about it as well.

I just wanted to say that I'm glad that you take the approach that you do. I'm not an expert, but I have had my experiences and done my research with problems that I have had, and I know that current situations affect a lot of what the supernatural and paranormal can do. I like that you don't just "check things out" - that you actually try and resolve the issues and help the people involved so that their lives are enriched in some way and they are better equipped to handle life in general.

I also wanted to say that I'm glad that you don't just limit everything to the Church, and recognize that there are other faiths and other religions.(yay Eilfie).

I'm glad this isn't another "Ghost Hunters" or "Most Haunted Places".

Interesting use of The Eye In The Triangle. The order has always knowledge above all else, and research serves the prime objective.

I once found myself travelling from the East to the West in search of something lost, and as I returned across the hot sands of the desert, I discovered among three brethren a word LALB.

The word play was intended to instruct in certain secrets of the New World Order through metaphor and allegory.

The letters are transposed from arrangement to arrangement, sometimes with the insertion of a vowel Y, which is I or J contingent on the lesson being given.

I was hoping to impress upon the reader as well the importance of the 72 Apostles issued forth to bind the gates of Hell... but there is precious little space hitherto.

thats great that you defend your religious aspect and all.... but really, the cases are talked about then just solved with a bunch of holy water. it truely is sad... im very open and perceptive to the paranormal, but why cant it even be done with a completely non religious view? im not saying science either.. but take it for what it is and not have to force christianity on everything... and i feel like the whole show is going to turn into your personal demon hunt. it looked so very staged unfortunately. i was very very excited to see the show and after what i saw.. i was let down. what will happen when you get a case from people who dont want religion to be forced on them to fix it? do you have alternatives? or will you just not deal with them for lack of their jesus factor?

Author's Response:  We have used religion and spirituality as an element when we feel it meets the criteria, and we always do it with the consent of the clients.  We will continue to bring religion and spirituality when appropriate.  That being said, not all cases documented in "Paranormal State" result in Ryan breaking out his Holy Water Super Soaker (oh my, I'm talking in third person).  So, if you're frustrated with the Christian tones in the series, I suggest you give the entire series a try, as you might be surprised.  But for the most part, you will see spiritual tones.

Dear Ryan and fellow Staff. This message comes from two practicing Pagans with experience with plenty of spiritual matters. We enjoy the show, and believe your choice of path is a good one. Your investigation methods are good and rather thorough.
But, we feel we must remind you that the events in The Name and following episode were foolish. We commend you for trying to keep the name unmentioned, but by allowing the producers to show it, even scrambled, was dangerous. By showing it that way it has been planted into the subconscious of every viewer that night. We know of many who have tried to figure it out and for anyone with any knowledge of the paranormal or has a religious background would know that name. And many of us have had experiences with him, just as you have. We also feel that the events of The Devil In Syracuse was a trap and not a preexisting manifestation. Not to mention, Pat did NOT help. We understand your desire to help people and make sure it's easier for them to go through then it was for many of us. We thank you for representing Pagans on your show. Initially we were concerned that it was simply about the church, but you have attempted to create a balance between those things.
Dabblers are dangerous, no matter what religion you are. People play, not understanding the consequences of their actions. This is not an insult to you and your team, but rather a warning to the readers of this post.
But we feel we must warn you, we have seen this epidemic coming, and it will not be pretty. So break out the sage and sweet grass, it's going to be a bumpy ride.

Ryan, I've really enjoyed the show thus far. Your blog is right to state that this show is not about producing evidence but helping people and I think that is most important. People will believe or disbelieve whatever evidence is presented to them but the question is whether or not those involved have truly been helped. I am a big fan of Ghost Hunters and now Paranormal State because there is so little quality productions out there for those of us interested in the paranormal. But these are two different kinds of shows and viewers need to understand that.

I am both glad and surprised that A&E has shown the spiritual elements of your cases as clearly and fairly as they have. It is wonderful to see in a time when so many people try to reduce faith and faithful acts to some antiquated belief system but as you already know faith in God and his power to protect us does work, save, and comfort those who just dare to believe and you don't have to be a "good" person by anyone's standards to receive that protection.

I want to say keep up the good work but I do have a concern. I actually understand the use of psychics as a part of the investigation team but I'm not sure I understand about the use of pagans. In the episodes, we see you praying, reciting and posting scripture, and blessing homes in the name of God but at the end of one episode, we see you with a pagan doing a banishing ritual in a boat. Is this not counter productive? I'm not judging but I want to understand. Please explain. A faithful fan, Cathrine.

P.S. Please change the blog comment color or at least post the responses in white. The black font against the brown background is so difficult to read. Thanks!

Author's Response:  Hi Catherine.  Thanks for the wonderful comments and questions.  Firstly, yes, this show is about helping the clients and it's about their stories.  But you will see evidence analysis and even more investigative techniques in future episodes.  Again, we do a lot of investigating, debunking, etc., but it's hard to cram all that in to 22-minutes.  So I like to think of Paranormal State and it's 20 episodes as one big experience.  As for the concern about using a pagan, you know, I knew this would be controversial.  But Eilfie was asked to do it, and I believe in Eilfie as a human being.  There's a lot to write about when it comes to this topic, so I will post more about it in the future.  Promise.  And yes, I will finally change the comment colors.  Happy Holidays!

The host of the show does not understand he has given the evil spirit what it wanted an audience. The evil spirit is not following Ryan. It baits Ryan so he will follow it. Spirits like these love to play, with those they haunt. The cleverness of this spirit is it wanted an audience greater than Ryan. And now Ryan has given it what it wants. I will try to leave a message on this site explaining this to Ryan, but I doubt he will respond with canceling the show.

I’m not sure you know what you are dealing with in this show. Sensing things does not mean you can control nor have power over them. Satan is using this show to bring many innocent people in contact with his presence. If you want to help these people, first; deal with your own demon in private and do not allow the demon to bring you to it through other people like he has been doing. You get calls about people being haunted but only because 'it' is calling to you. Deal with that aspect first or you will lose credibility in the show.
Promoting fear and anxiety in this show is grabbing people; pulling them into Satan’s grasp. It’s rather simple on how to get rid of demons. A person needs to know that God’s grace saves and you also must have a knowledgeable person who knows how to send demons back to where they came from. Ever thought about a show about how angels are around people and how they work? Not as exciting huh? Well, that’s just sad.
I hope you will allow this on your site. I hate to go to a site and see that the only comments allowed are only positive ones with no opposition allowed.

Author's Response: Dear Playful Panda, It seems to me that you and I have been watching two different shows.  If a family is in distress, that isn't something we make up.  So we're not going to "down play" it.  Likewise, there is the mentioning of the angelic in each of the first four episodes!  As for me not allowing negative comments, I actually haven't received that many, but I have allowed for them to go through (except for the idiotic ones) if you actually read the comment boards.  Pay attention to detail, my friend!

No one causes you to feel fear & anxiety, that is your choice how you respond to what is said, heard, seen. I've always heard & been taught that the closer you try to become to God the harder satan attacks you & have actually experianced this myself, satan does NOT want you anywhere near God. I feel Paranormal State is promoting that there is help & understanding between these strugles! Not the other way around.

I saw your show for the first time tonight and I was intrigued at what you saw. The two cases, the one in Elizabethtown and Syracuse, were shown back to back, and I think for a moment in the first hour, its name may have been shown. Please tell me this is not a bad thing -- I did not speak the name out loud in fear that it may invoke it, but I don't know if someone else may have done so. Would saying the name or even knowing it (if what that instant flash was correct) invoke it? I certainly hope it does not...

Author's Response: I doubt saying the name invokes it.  But they would also love the attention.

Sorry to bother you again Ryan, but have you ever considered trying a Buddhist priest for your exorcisms and other spiritual needs (not trying to sound like a used car salesman there)? The work they do though is more preventative though, but perhaps that might be applicable for some cases?

Author's Response: Hi John, we will always consider the use of a Buddhist priest, but it depends on the clients and their belief system.  We always try to work around their belief system.  But we're not against working with any positive religion/spiritual practice.

I only recently heard about your show and saw a couple of episodes tonight for the first time. While I'm really scientifically minded and am a fan of Ghost Hunters, I really like your guys' angle and I think your show is refreshingly unique from all the other paranormal shows. It does have a creep factor to it which I like, but I like your approach and that you really deal with helping the people to feel better. I grew up in a haunted house and had a lot of experiences as a kid, but it's my family's belief system that you either go to Heaven or Hell and so there's no ghosts or haunted places, so they thought I was just making it up. So I've had a life-long interest in the paranormal too. It's also cool to have a paranormal show with a team that's closer to home. I'm just down here in Morgantown. Anyway, I look forward to seeing much more of your show. Well done! =)

By the way... about the critisism of using both Christian and Pagan practices:

I consider myself basically Athiest and say so because it's often much easier than explaining what I'm about to say. But there's nothing wrong with them using both Christian and Pagan elements. In fact, no one has any claim or proof that any one religion has it 100% correct and the more different beliefs they accept and recognize, the more effective they will be. While I am skeptical of blessings, spells, excorsisms, voodoo or what have you, if it works, then it probably works because the spirit in question had the same belief system in life and maybe that's why some spirits have a strong aversion to holy water and reading the Bible.. And maybe they made the right choice there going with the Pagan ritual when dealing with the crazy guy that drowned himself in the pond. I don't believe there's one definitive answer and none of us have even 1/1000th of the picture. That's what paranormal investigation is to me, it's just a search for some other clue, some other peice of the 50,000-piece puzzle. We don't know it all yet. We're not even close.

I absolutely love this show. I always watch "A Haunting" on discovery channel where they re-enact real people's stories. But to watch it as it is happening with the real people is MUCH more interesting. I truly feel for the people in your cases. I would be scared to death if I were to experience the things these people are going through.

You guys ROCK! I hope this show is on for a long time!!

Hey there Ryan your show is great. I love the fact that when you get a call from a person who is exercising paranormal activity your main goal is to help them not to try to record evidence for the camera. I also like that you are so prepared with every specialist you can imagine to help in any way. Can’t wait till New Years eve 

I found it very interesting that the entity that was mentioned in your program was the same that was associated with the Anneliese Michel case in Germany in the 1970’s. If the history associated with this creature is correct, then I can completely understand your reluctance to mention its name. This also brings up an interesting issue about “inviting evil” into our lives.

You and your team made a great recommendation for the family plagued by this spirit to clean and organize their house, which really is a metaphor for their personal lives. The organization begins with the physical (our surroundings) and then extends into the spiritual realm. It is the exact same advice counselors give to those who are recovering from depression or even financial crisis. If one expresses and demonstrates success, the success can be extruded from within.

Please put on your Teflon suit and let any criticism simply slip off.

Ryan I was amazed at what you have written here as it is nearly identical to what I wrote on the website that belongs to my good friend John. He is just begining to embark on being a paranormal investigato even tho he has always been interested in the paranormal as was his mother when he was growing up. I was the first one to join his website and he made me a moderator. When your show aired and I said that it was, in my opinion, better than T.A.P.S. the members wanted to know why I said this. I wrote that it didn't mean that everyone would feel this way because they are 2 completely different aspects of the same subject and that both shows as well as both groups have their place in the paranormal. They are both NEEDED in our quest of the paranormal. But for me your group deals with the real problem that hauntings/demons present. I have always wondered why anyone would feel better after T.A.P.S. leaves. I would only feel relief maybe while they were there just simply bcause i had some company and felt safety in numbers. But when they leave....that's it. The reveal is good for ratings but it does nothing for me. Also they do not normally use any kind of medium or sensitive and I don't know just how much you can learn about a spirit from seeing them open a door or pull the comforter off of you while you are sleeping. You might be convinced that they are there but that's about it. Why they are there and what their intentions for me are will not be learned from taking their picture. Your methods, intentions and your spiritual awareness are what would bring out a confidence that you could actually help me if I were to need it. All of this being said there is something else that will possibly make your show a hit. If I were younger and thought that I had any chance of getting your attention then I am afraid that I might become your groupie. Hopefully no one will try and stalk you to get your phone # or attention....LOL. That was a joke but on the real side you have a gentleness and a charm that is very rare. There is not a movie star who could hold a candle to your charm and appeal. So just be yourself and stay true to your convictions and you will do well in every aspect of your life. ...~Colleen~

Finally! This show is spectacular! Ryan, keep up the fight and know that there are many of us supporting you and what you are doing. Not only is the show interesting to watch but you have given a show for those of us who believe there is more in the world than the friendly little ghosts portrayed so often. Please be careful during your journey though.

Author's Response:  I agree that the flashing of the letters wasn't the wisest move, but I also understand why the producer's did it.  However, after much consideration, if we ever pursue another demonic case on a show, I will do my best to make sure the flashing doesn't happen again.

I really love the show. I can't say that I have ever had an parinormal experience but the possibility of having one is very interesting. I do however have a quick question. I believe the episode was called "The Name"; What was the purpose of not saying the demon's name?
Well, I can't wait to watch the next episode. Keep up the good work!

Author's Response:  Hi Tiffany.  When we work on a demonic case, we do not say the demon's name, especially on the premise, as it is believed to give the demonic recognition and power.  It doesn't have anything to do with fear.  We as investigators and Christians do not wish to give recognition to the demonic.

    Hey Ryan-
I just wanted to say that I think the show is absolutely AMAZING. My mom is a big sceptic about the paranormal, but I truly believe it exists, and I believe that your show is showing this to everyone who watches. I also love the way that you tie your religion into everything you do for the families. One of the wonderful things about this show is: not only are you discovering more about the paranormal and expanding your personal knowledge, but you are really helping people. Your giving them one of the most important things in life: hope. Hope that there is a bright side to being a subject of paranormal activity. I just wanted to let you and your entire team know that I think what you are doing is really wonderful, no matter what all the sceptics say [including my mom ]. Anyways good luck to you and stay safe.

I watched your shows and loved them. I'm so glad your doing the work your doing of really helping people with what are spiritual problems. Some people don't seem to realize that ghosts are spirits and sometimes they need help too. Using the forces of light are absolutely necessary at times to counter the negative forces that are sometimes present on your cases. More "ghosthunters" could learn something from your group if they would watch your methods and techniques. Keep up the good work and I'll keep watching and praying for you, and may the Lord and the Angels continue to protect and guide and help you and your group. Sincerely,...one empathetic fan!
